The Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Abdul Majeed-Dokrugu, has warned developers against undertaking construction projects within the municipality without obtaining the requisite building permits.
The MCE issued the warning on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, when he visited Mpatado to inspect foundation pits dug dangerously close to the newly constructed Mpatado/Adietem Primary School building.
Hon. Dokrugu expressed concern over what he described as the growing disregard for the Assembly’s building regulations, stressing that developers are required to obtain permits before commencing construction.
“It is becoming one too many for people to just want to do things without respect for the Assembly’s by-laws,” he said.
According to him, the Assembly’s regulations are clear that no person should commence a building project within the municipality without first securing the necessary permit.
“Yet developers are indiscriminately putting up structures anyhow, just like this one,” he noted.
The MCE said the Assembly would no longer tolerate such violations and warned that structures put up without the appropriate permits would be pulled down.
“This should serve as a warning to everyone within the Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipality. I am going to pull down every structure without a permit,” he cautioned.
He urged individuals and developers intending to undertake construction projects in the municipality to ensure that they secure all required documentation and approvals before commencing work.
The MCE’s intervention at Mpatado follows concerns over the proximity of the foundation pits to the newly completed school building, raising questions about compliance with planning and development regulations in the area.
