Musah Adamu Rules Out Re-election As Assembly Member, Abandons One-way Traffic Plan

Newly elected NDC Kwesimintsim Constituency Chairman Musah Adamu has announced that he will not seek re-election as Assembly Member for the Sofon Zongo Electoral Area, saying it is time to give other capable people the opportunity to serve.

Speaking on the Morning Light Show on Almighty 103.7 FM, Mr Adamu, who also serves as Presiding Member of the Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipal Assembly (EKMA), said he believes he has served his electoral area well and is ready to make way for others to step into leadership and serve Sofon Zongo electoral area.

He explained that having attained the position of Presiding Member and now assumed the leadership of the NDC in the Kwesimintsim Constituency, he considers it appropriate to allow other competent individuals to contribute to the development of the area.

“I believe I have served my people well, and it is time to give other competent and capable people the opportunity to serve,” he said.

Adding that he will not be contesting at the assembly level elections again and that anyone who is interested should get ready and go for it.

Adamu abandons one-way traffic proposal

Hon. Adamu also announced that he has giving up on plans to convert the stretch of road from the Kwesimintsim Taxi Rank to the Obiri Traffic Light into a one-way route.

The proposal, which he pursued in collaboration with road safety authorities during his tenure as Assembly Member, was intended to address traffic management challenges in the area.

However, the plan encountered strong opposition from commercial drivers, who resisted the proposed change to the existing traffic arrangement.

Following his election as NDC Kwesimintsim Constituency Chairman, Mr Adamu said he would no longer pursue the initiative.

He has instead called on the Chief of Kwesimintsim to take up the matter and consider how best the traffic challenges along the stretch can be addressed.

His decision leaves the future of the proposed one-way traffic arrangement uncertain, with the chief now being urged to lead efforts to revisit the issue.

Mr Adamu’s announcement comes as he prepares to focus on his new role as constituency chairman while bringing his tenure as Assembly Member to a close at the end of his current mandate.
