The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, has announced that all power generation units affected by the recent Akosombo Substation fire have been fully restored.
In a Facebook post on Friday, May 1, Mr. Jinapor disclosed that the country’s power system has now been stabilised after emergency teams and engineers worked tirelessly to bring operations back to normal following the disruption that caused power outages in some parts of the country.
According to the Minister, the successful restoration was made possible through the dedication, professionalism, and commitment of engineers, technicians, and emergency response teams who worked around the clock under challenging conditions.
He praised the efforts of key power sector institutions, including the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo), the Volta River Authority (VRA), and the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), for their swift coordination and response in restoring electricity supply.
Mr. Jinapor noted that the collaboration among the various agencies played a vital role in ensuring stability within the country’s energy sector.
He further stated that the successful restoration demonstrates Ghana’s ability to rely on the expertise and resilience of its people during difficult moments.
The Minister ended his message by offering prayers for engineers, workers in the energy sector, and the nation as a whole.
