The Member of Parliament for Kwesimintsim, Lawyer Philip Fiifi Buckman, says he is targeting at least 2,000 constituents to benefit from the government’s One Million Coders Programme as part of efforts to expand access to digital skills training in the constituency.

Speaking at the launch of the programme in Kwesimintsim, Hon. Lawyer, Buckman said the initiative would provide residents with an opportunity to acquire information and communication technology (ICT) skills and prepare for emerging opportunities in the digital economy.
He explained that the programme reflects the President’s commitment to bringing digital skills training closer to the people and ensuring that communities across the country benefit from the initiative.

“The President wants to bring these programmes closer to the people, and we want to ensure that Kwesimintsim Constituency gets its fair share,” he said.
Hon. Buckman added that the Kwesimintsim ICT Centre had been transformed to support the initiative, describing it as an opportunity for residents to position themselves for the future.

He urged constituents, particularly young people seeking to improve their employment prospects, to take advantage of the programme and acquire relevant digital skills.
Training centres established across Western Region
The Western Regional Manager of the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC), Isaac Quaisie, disclosed that nine centres had so far been established across the Western Region under the One Million Coders Programme.

Mr. Quaisie said the training was free and encouraged residents to enrol and benefit from the initiative, regardless of their political affiliations.
He stressed the importance of making digital skills training accessible to all eligible Ghanaians, noting that the programme presents an opportunity for residents to develop skills relevant to the changing digital landscape.

The One Million Coders Programme is a government initiative intended to equip Ghanaians with coding and other digital skills to prepare them for employment and opportunities in the technology-driven economy.
The Kwesimintsim launch is expected to widen access to the programme in the constituency, with the MP’s target of at least 2,000 beneficiaries underscoring the push to expand local participation in digital skills development.
