Former workers of BCM Ghana Limited at Tarkwa are demanding payment of outstanding end-of-service benefits, nearly two years after their employment ended.

The workers, who served for about seven years, say they have received only part of their entitlements and are appealing to the government and Gold Fields Ghana Limited to intervene.
BCM was contracted by Gold Fields in 2018 to undertake mining services at the Tarkwa mine following Gold Fields’ transition from owner-mining to contract mining.
The aggrieved workers say under arrangements surrounding their end-of-service benefits, Gold Fields was expected to provide part of the funds while BCM was responsible for the balance. They are, however, calling on both companies to help resolve the outstanding payments.

BCM Ghana, in a July 2025 statement, said it remained engaged with Gold Fields and other stakeholders towards a “fair and lawful resolution” of the matter.
The workers say they have waited long enough and are warning that they will demonstrate if they do not receive a concrete response by October 15, 2026.
“We have been patient for too long. We need our money.”
