The Shama Municipality has officially commenced construction of key road projects totaling 5.6 kilometers in Nyankrom and Kumfieku, marking a significant step toward improving infrastructure in the area.

The sod-cutting ceremony was led by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Shama, Paul Otis Dentu, alongside the Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture Development and Member of Parliament for Shama, Emelia Arthur.
The projects include the construction of a 2.5-kilometre road in Nyankrom and a 3.1-kilometre stretch in Kumfieku. According to Engineer Matthew of Nkansah and Family Construction, the contractor has been given a six-month timeline to complete and hand over both projects.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Dentu emphasized that the initiative reflects the municipality’s commitment to strengthening infrastructure and improving the living conditions of residents. He noted that the roads will enhance mobility, ease transportation challenges, and boost economic activities within the beneficiary communities.
The ceremony was also marked by traditional rites, as the Queenmother of Nyankrom, Nana Akosua Gyemfuaba II, led a delegation of chiefs to offer prayers for the successful execution of the projects. She urged residents to support the contractor by ensuring a peaceful working environment to facilitate timely completion.
The road developments are expected to significantly improve accessibility and contribute to the overall growth of the Shama Municipality.
