Gwira Banso Rewards Five Local Heroes for Stopping Illegal Miners

In a strong effort to fight illegal mining in Ghana, the Chief of Gwira Banso, Nana Ette Akrade II, has given a total of 50,000 Ghana cedis to five local residents. This reward is in recognition of their brave actions in catching five illegal miners in the Draw Forest, which is situated in the Nzema East District of the Western Region.

Determined to protect the land and water in Gwira Banso, the chief and his council had previously announced that anyone who helped arrest illegal miners would receive a cash reward. The chief kept his promise and honored the five residents who took a stand against these illegal activities.

At a community event in Gwira Banso, the chief praised the residents for their courageous efforts, calling their actions patriotic and highlighting the strength and unity of the Gwira Banso community. He also issued a stern warning to anyone considering illegal mining in the forest.

“I urge everyone to stay away from our forest and not to engage in illegal mining, because if we catch you, we will take serious action. Please spread the word to your family and friends.”

The leaders of the group that caught the illegal miners expressed their deep gratitude to the chief and council for recognizing their efforts. However, they also mentioned to almightyfm.com that while they are eager to protect the forest, they need more resources and support from the chief to effectively continue their fight against illegal mining in the Draw Forest.
