Eddie Howe: Isak Must Earn Newcastle Spot Amid £110M Liverpool Bid

Newcastle United’s Eddie Howe has insisted that striker Alexander Isak must “earn the right” to train with the squad after a £110 million bid from Liverpool was rejected on August 1, 2025. The 25-year-old Swede, who trained alone at Real Sociedad amid transfer speculation, missed Newcastle’s Asia pre-season tour due to a “minor thigh injury,” as reported by Sky Sports.

Isak, who joined Newcastle United for £60 million in 2022, scored 27 goals in 42 appearances last season, helping secure a Champions League spot. Howe, speaking to the Newcastle Chronicle, emphasized team discipline, stating no player can act poorly and expect to train normally. Liverpool, fresh from signing Hugo Ekitike, have not followed up their offer, per BBC Sport.

Alan Shearer, on The Rest is Football podcast, called Newcastle’s transfer window a “mess” but supported selling Isak if he’s uncommitted, noting, “No individual is bigger than the club.” The Alexander Isak transfer saga continues to grip fans. Stay updated on Newcastle’s next moves!
