Absa Bank Upgrades ICT Lab for Accra’s Derby Avenue School

The Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) team at Absa Bank Ghana has transformed the ICT laboratory at Derby Avenue Roman Catholic Basic School in Accra, equipping it with 30 new desktop computers, ceiling fans, blinds, and ergonomic workstations. This staff-funded initiative, driven by voluntary contributions, aims to boost digital literacy among young learners.

The refurbished lab enhances the school’s ability to integrate technology into education, fostering digital skills for students. At the handover ceremony, Dr. Ellen Ohene-Afoakwa, Managing Executive for CIB, emphasized Absa’s commitment to empowering future generations. “Digital literacy is key to preparing young learners to innovate and lead,” she said, as reported by Graphic Online.

Headmistress Doris Kang-Yelle expressed gratitude, noting, “This ICT lab will transform teaching and learning.” The event, attended by Rev. Father Wisdom Dordunu and Absa’s Head of FX Sales, Ivy Deh, highlights Absa’s ongoing community impact efforts, aligning with its mission to create shared value across Ghana.
