President John Dramani Mahama has formally appointed 18 individuals, including General Thomas Oppong-Preprah (retired), as deputy ambassadors, with General Oppong-Preprah designated as Ghana’s Deputy High Commissioner to Canada.
The announcement was made in an official communication from Dr. Callistus Mahama, the Executive Secretary to the President, addressed to the Minister of Foreign Affairs. This appointment list reflects strategic diplomatic placements intended to strengthen Ghana’s international relations across various key jurisdictions.
The newly appointed deputy ambassadors are as follows: Dr. Palmer Appiah-Gyan to Germany; Madam Francisca Patoah Gyarko to Switzerland; Mr. Ben Dotsei Malor to the United States; Dr. Harry Zevon to China; Mr. Sulemana Ibun Iddrissu to India; and Mr. Aquinas Quansah to the United Kingdom.
Additionally, the appointments include: Mr. George Harrison to South Korea; Madam Jamilatu Amadu to the United Arab Emirates; Mr. Emmanuel Netsey-Afedo to the Netherlands; Madam Sophia Karen Edem Ackuaku to Italy; Mr. Francis Thalamus Doe to Japan; and Mr. Sanni Jajah to Saudi Arabia.
The remaining appointees are Mr. Kwadwo Agyei-Dwomor to Türkiye; Mr. Emmanuel Kamban Panyan to Russia; Alhaji Mohammed Seidu Issah Abah to South Africa; Mr. Mohammed Ibn Abass to Egypt; and Reverend Dr. Isaac Clive Mould to Denmark.
