At a press briefing in Parliament on Friday, Sulemana Adama, MP for Tain and a committee member, described the Minority’s position as baseless and without merit.

“As members of the Majority Caucus on the Communications Committee, we acknowledge the Minority’s concerns. However, we emphatically disagree with their stance and their call for the removal of the Minister responsible for Communication,” he said.

Mr. Adama insisted that the Minister had acted within the law in his engagements with MultiChoice, operators of DStv, and provided the leadership necessary to stabilise the broadcasting and pay-TV sector.

He further rejected allegations made by Minority spokesperson Mr. Owiredu, who suggested irregularities in the Minister’s arrangement with MultiChoice.

“The assertions are wholly unfounded and do not reflect the facts on the ground. There is nothing irregular about the Minister’s engagement with MultiChoice, and absolutely no justification for the call on him to resign,” Mr. Adama stressed.

The Majority caucus reiterated its support for the Minister, describing the calls for his removal as politically motivated and unsubstantiated.
