At a press conference, the group alleged that the directives issued by the General Secretary ahead of the constituency elections contributed to widespread confusion, violence and dissatisfaction among party delegates.

According to the group, a directive from the Office of the General Secretary indicating that the party would not provide transportation, food, drinks or water for delegates attending the elections reflected what it described as a disregard for the party’s grassroots supporters.

“This is an insult to the very people who are the foundation of the NPP. These delegates sacrifice their time, money and energy to build the party at the polling station level. To ask them to ‘arrive, vote and leave’ without even water under this sun is wicked, inhumane and anti-grassroots,” the group stated.

The group argued that delegates form the backbone of the NPP and should not bear the burden of the party’s financial challenges.

It further blamed the General Secretary for what it described as poor planning and inadequate logistical arrangements that allegedly resulted in violence and disturbances during some of the constituency executive elections.

“The constituency elections were marred by violence, confusion and avoidable confrontations in several constituencies across the country. Reports of thuggery, invasion of polling centres and arrests are a direct result of poor planning and lack of adequate security and logistical support,” the statement said.

The group maintained that, as the party’s chief administrator, Mr. Frimpong bears ultimate responsibility for ensuring peaceful, transparent and well-organized internal elections.

Another issue raised by the pressure group relates to the party’s financial management. It questioned what it described as inconsistencies between claims that the NPP is facing severe financial constraints and previous instances in which the General Secretary reportedly supported aspirants with nomination fees.

“Where did that money come from if the Party is broke? Why can one man find money for aspirants, but the Party he leads cannot find money for delegates? This contradiction raises serious questions about priorities, transparency and who the Party truly serves,” the group asserted.

The Grassroots Alliance for Victory 2028 said the developments have eroded the confidence of many grassroots supporters and insisted that new leadership is needed to restore trust within the party.

The group also called on the NPP’s National Council to intervene by providing logistical support for delegates in the remaining constituency elections, conducting an independent audit into the party’s finances and election logistics, and implementing measures to prevent similar challenges in future internal elections.

“The NPP belongs to the polling station executive, the electoral area coordinator and the delegate in the village. We will not sit and watch the Party be run aground. The grassroots are angry, the grassroots are watching, and the grassroots demand better,” the statement concluded.

The leadership of the NPP has yet to publicly respond to the allegations and the demand for the General Secretary’s resignation.

Reports circulating on social media suggested that some Minority MPs intentionally went ahead with the visit without Mr. Afenyo-Markin because he did not openly support Dr. Bawumia during the party’s presidential primary. The claims have since sparked debate within political circles.

Addressing the issue in an interview, Mr. Aidoo explained that the visit was planned ahead of time and coordinated by the Minority Leader himself. According to him, members of the caucus were informed of the meeting details, including the agreed time and dress code.

He further clarified that Mr. Afenyo-Markin was absent at the initial stage of the visit due to an official engagement in Parliament. After completing that assignment, the Minority Leader later joined his colleagues at Dr. Bawumia’s residence.

The Oforikrom MP described the reports of division within the caucus as misleading and unnecessary. He stressed that the Minority Caucus remains united and committed to working together, adding that there was no disagreement or protest surrounding the visit.

Mr. Aidoo urged the public to disregard claims suggesting internal rifts within the NPP Minority, noting that such narratives do not reflect the true situation within the caucus.

Addressing NPP constituency executives and former party officials in the Greater Accra Region at the start of a three-day engagement, Dr. Bawumia expressed concern that many of the projects, though at advanced stages by the end of 2024, have stalled under the current government.

“When we were in government, we introduced policies to improve the lives of every Ghanaian—such as the medical drone delivery service, expansion of the National Ambulance Service, and the Agenda 111 hospitals. Sadly, the new government seems to have abandoned this critical investment in healthcare. Nine months into their tenure, there is no sign of progress,” he said.

The National Leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has reaffirmed its dedication to transparent and credible democratic processes, urging the public to disregard recent comments made by two of its Regional Chairmen.

In a statement signed by General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, the Party clarified that remarks by Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako and Bono Regional Chairman Kwame Baffoe (Abronye DC) do not reflect the principles, values, or practices of the NPP.

“No individual, regardless of rank or position, has the authority to manipulate or control the compilation of polling station albums,” the statement stressed. The leadership assured stakeholders that the process will follow clear, transparent, and established procedures.

To reinforce this, the National Secretariat will in due course release guidelines and protocols designed to guarantee integrity, credibility, and fairness at every stage of the process.

Addressing concerns raised by Antwi Boasiako over the timing of the Party’s presidential primaries, scheduled for 31st January 2026, the NPP dismissed claims that the date was set to benefit a particular aspirant.

“The assertion is unfounded. The National Council deliberated extensively before arriving at the decision in the supreme and strategic interest of the Party. No individual has the influence to manipulate this process,” the statement emphasized.

Former Deputy Chief Executive of MASLOC, Kwabena Asamoah, has called on members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to put an end to factional, tribal, and religious divisions, warning that such practices weaken the party’s chances of winning power in 2028 and threaten Ghana’s progress.

Speaking at the swearing-in and handing-over ceremony of the TESCON executives at KNUST on Saturday, September 6, Mr. Asamoah stressed the importance of national unity and inclusive politics.

“I don’t subscribe to factionalism, religious, and tribal politics. These divisions are hurtful and destructive. We must decide what kind of nation we want to be, and a country divided along tribal and religious lines is not the answer,” he said.

He expressed concern about the use of tribal identity in political campaigns, citing as an example comments that questioned former Second Lady Hajia Samira Bawumia’s regional roots.

“Whether you are Frafra, Asante, Ewe, Nzema, or Dagomba—it doesn’t matter. We are all Ghanaians, pledging allegiance to one flag. That should be our focus,” he added.

Mr. Asamoah compared Ghana’s situation to countries like Rwanda and Mauritius, which he said are making progress because they have moved beyond tribal and religious divisions.

Despite his criticism of divisive politics, he also shared a hopeful message:
