Awentami Paul Afoko has extended his deepest condolences following the passing of the Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, on August 11, 2025 — a loss that comes as Ghana mourns a string of notable figures.

Afoko noted that her passing follows the deaths of two prominent chiefs and a linguist in Asanteman, describing it as an especially heavy blow to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, who has now lost his only surviving sister and traditional mother.

Sharing a personal memory, Afoko recalled the honour granted him earlier this year when the Asantehene dispatched a high-powered delegation to represent him at the funeral of Afoko’s late father in Sandema, Upper East Region.

He joined political leaders, business figures, clergy, traditional authorities, imams, and ordinary citizens in acknowledging the Asantehene’s profound role in Ghana’s cultural and national life.
