The caucus cited serious concerns regarding the Ablekuma North parliamentary rerun, held less than two weeks ago, which they claim was plagued by voter intimidation, electoral violence, and the manipulation of state security forces—actions they described as a dangerous erosion of the country’s democratic fabric.

Frank Annoh-Dompreh, the Minority Chief Whip, stated that their decision was grounded in principle. “We cannot, in good conscience, offer legitimacy to this budget session while ignoring what we see as a grave assault on Ghana’s democratic processes,” he said.
