More than 90 students have so far benefitted from Dr. Bryan Acheampong’s long-running educational sponsorship initiative.

Last week, 63 current beneficiaries, all students of Achimota School, paid a farewell visit to the Abetifi MP as they prepared to begin a new academic year.

Welcoming them, Dr. Acheampong encouraged the students to remain disciplined, focused, and hardworking in their studies. He reminded them that education is not just a tool for personal growth, but also a responsibility to their families and the nation.

Sharing his personal journey, he recalled his early education at Achimota Primary and later at PRESEC, institutions he credited for shaping his future. Today, he stands as a Presidential Aspirant, driven by the same values he urged the students to uphold.

“Opportunity is the most powerful gift I can give,” he said. “But it is your determination that makes the difference.”

Currently, 25 beneficiaries of the programme have completed the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and are awaiting results, while 63 others continue their studies, including 16 new entrants this semester.

The initiative fully covers tuition, boarding, food, and provisions, supporting students consistently from primary through senior high school.

Over the past five years, the programme has become one of the most consistent private sponsorship efforts in Ghana, widely seen as a reflection of Dr. Acheampong’s broader vision of rebuilding communities through investment in children.

A leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwadwo Nsafoah Poku, has dismissed claims by fellow flagbearer hopeful Bryan Acheampong that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia failed to secure votes from Zongo communities in the 2024 presidential election.

Bryan Acheampong recently alleged that Dr. Bawumia won only one Zongo polling station nationwide, urging NPP delegates not to back him as the party’s flagbearer for the 2028 elections. His comments quickly sparked controversy, with many describing them as misleading propaganda.

Kwadwo Poku, who also contested in the 2024 NPP presidential primaries, has released polling data to counter Acheampong’s assertions. According to him, Dr. Bawumia not only won several Zongo polling stations across the country but also made significant gains in areas that are traditionally strongholds of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).

One of the striking examples shared by Poku comes from Bryan Acheampong’s own constituency. At the Zongo Mosque polling station in Kwahu Tafo, Dr. Bawumia secured 227 votes against John Mahama’s 207. Poku questioned why Acheampong deliberately ignored results from his own backyard when making his claims.

“In recent days, it has been widely reported on social media that Dr. Bawumia failed to win Zongo and Northern votes. In a viral video, Hon. Bryan Acheampong is heard saying Bawumia won only one Zongo polling station in Effutu. But this is far from the truth,” Poku explained.

He cited polling station E311603 in Abetifi as clear evidence that Bawumia performed strongly in Zongo communities.

Poku went on to list several other Zongo polling stations across the country where Dr. Bawumia won convincingly, insisting that Bryan Acheampong’s claims were “completely wrong” and only intended to mislead party delegates.

A group of young executives from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has picked nomination forms for Dr. Bryan Acheampong to contest the party’s upcoming flagbearer race.

The delegation visited the NPP national headquarters in Accra to complete the process before handing the forms to Carlos Kingsley Ahenkorah, former Tema West MP and Campaign Manager for Dr. Acheampong.

Describing the gesture as a strong endorsement, Mr. Ahenkorah said it reflected the youth’s confidence in Dr. Acheampong’s leadership potential.

“This is not just about picking forms; it’s about the future of the NPP and Ghana,” he stated. “When the youth take this initiative, it shows they believe in a leader who can unite the party, deliver on promises, and secure victory in 2028.”

He assured the group that the campaign would be anchored on unity, competence, and results for both the party and the nation.

Some members of the delegation highlighted Dr. Acheampong’s achievements in public service—especially in the agriculture sector—his discipline, and his leadership style as key reasons for their backing.

They expressed optimism that his strategic vision could lead the NPP to victory in the next general elections.

The move is widely seen as giving Dr. Acheampong early momentum, particularly among grassroots supporters who often play a decisive role in internal party contests. With the nomination process now open, attention shifts to how aspirants will court delegates ahead of the primaries in January 2026.
