CEO of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) and Deputy National Communication Officer of the NDC, Malik Basintale, has publicly dismissed widespread rumours suggesting he had suffered a stroke and was receiving medical treatment abroad.
The rumours, which circulated heavily on social media over the past week, claimed Basintale had been bedridden in London due to a serious health condition. His absence from the public space further fuelled speculation.
But in a Facebook post on Sunday, November 16, 2025, Basintale firmly debunked the claims, labelling them as nothing more than falsehoods.
“Kurugu Toli: ton ton je!! Ignore the false news… No stroke, no London!”

He stressed that he has not suffered a stroke, nor has he travelled to the United Kingdom for medical care.
To further reassure the public, Basintale appeared in a virtual interview with The1957News, where he stated that he was in “excellent condition.” A video from the session showed him smiling and looking healthy, putting the rumours to rest.
The incident adds to the growing concern over the speed at which unverified health-related rumours spread online, especially targeting public officeholders.
