The campaign team of Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, a flagbearer aspirant in the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has described his leadership bid as a divinely inspired mission to restore purpose and integrity within the party and Ghana’s political space.
Speaking on The Pulse on JoyNews on Friday, October 10, Kwasi Kwarteng, spokesperson for the Ken Agyapong campaign, said the team believes Mr. Agyapong’s candidacy goes beyond politics, representing a spiritual calling for national renewal.
“We are not fixated on numbers. We firmly believe that Ken’s candidature is divine — a move by God to restore order and righteousness in leadership,” Mr. Kwarteng stated.
Drawing a biblical analogy, he compared the situation to the story of King David, suggesting that God is bringing Kennedy Agyapong forward as a replacement for a “rejected Saul.”
“When the Israelites demanded a king, God gave them Saul. But when conditions worsened, God replaced him with David. Likewise, Saul has been rejected, and a new David — Honourable Kennedy Agyapong — is being introduced by God,” he explained.
Mr. Kwarteng further noted that while the campaign team is encouraged by Agyapong’s ballot position, their focus remains on his message of transformation and moral leadership.
“His visibility on the ballot is a plus, but beyond numbers, our strength lies in the divine purpose driving his message,” he added.
Kennedy Agyapong is one of five aspirants contesting for the NPP flagbearer position ahead of the party’s presidential primaries scheduled for January 31, 2026.
