The Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), Eric Adjei, has revealed that he was once subjected to a lie detector test during the administration of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
According to him, the test was conducted by the National Signals Bureau (NSB), an intelligence agency operating under the Office of the President.
Speaking on Adom TV’s Badwam, Mr. Adjei explained that the procedure was part of an interrogation process after he was accused of offences he had no knowledge of.
“They said they were taking me to check if I was lying. I didn’t understand until I got to the National Signals Bureau and was placed on a lie detector. They explained it would monitor my brainwaves to confirm whether I was telling the truth,” he recounted.
Mr. Adjei used the revelation to accuse the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of hypocrisy, noting that similar actions were carried out quietly under Akufo-Addo’s watch.
“Today, when former officials are being invited or arrested over alleged corruption or misuse of public funds, some NPP members are crying foul. But under their own government, people like me were subjected to intimidating processes, including lie detector tests,” he stressed.
He further alleged that some ex-government appointees currently under investigation have already entered into plea bargaining arrangements with the Attorney General’s Department.
“I know for a fact that some former officials are negotiating behind the scenes. They would rather refund the monies than go to court. Yet, these are the same people pointing fingers at the current administration for cracking down on corruption,” he added.
The NDC government has recently faced criticism from the opposition NPP, which has described the arrests of some former officials as politically motivated.
