Gov’t ready to work with employers to create more jobs – Labour Minister

The Government of Ghana has reaffirmed its commitment to partnering with the Ghana Employers Association (GEA) to address employment challenges and expand job opportunities for citizens.

Minister of Employment and Labour Relations, Dr. Abdul Rashid Hassan Pelpuo, speaking at the Association’s 65th Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Accra, said government is determined to work hand in hand with the private sector to deliver practical and sustainable solutions.

“Government is prepared to work closely with employers to address the challenges they face and ensure that we create more jobs for our people,” Dr. Pelpuo assured in an interview with Joy Business.

He emphasized that collaboration with businesses was crucial for generating decent, sustainable employment and boosting economic resilience.

On his part, Alex Frimpong, CEO of the GEA, urged government to stabilize the Ghana cedi, stressing that currency fluctuations continue to erode competitiveness, limit investment, and undermine growth.

The 65th AGM convened industry leaders, policymakers, and labour experts to deliberate on strategies for strengthening the business environment and driving inclusive national development.
