Nicholas Aazine: Ghanaians Must Seize Control of Power Crisis

Nicholas Aazine, Coordinator of Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation (JPIC)/VIVAT-Ghana, has called on Ghanaians to take charge of the nation’s persistent electricity crisis, criticizing the NDC and NPP for nearly two decades of mismanagement, per Citi News. Despite promises in their manifestos, both parties have politicized power supply, leaving citizens with erratic outages and high bills. Aazine argues that electricity, vital for economic growth, is stifled by partisan “politricking,” with governments trading blame instead of solutions.

While recent renewable energy initiatives for island communities are a step forward, Aazine questions the lack of community engagement in the second phase of fossil fuel exploration and safeguards against harmful practices like gas flaring, per Ghana News Agency. He advocates for decentralized solutions like solar-powered streetlights to enhance safety and reduce reliance on polluting systems, noting Ghana’s overdependence on hydroelectric power for nearly 90% of its supply.

Aazine urges corporations, communities, and individuals to invest in renewable energy—solar, wind, and biomass—as viable, sustainable alternatives to break the cycle of government inaction. “Ghanaians must take the power back,” he insists, emphasizing that renewables can lower tariffs, boost the economy, and ensure energy independence. The Nicholas Aazine power crisis call demands action beyond government promises. Stay updated on the Nicholas Aazine power crisis push for Ghana’s energy future!
