Tony Bloom, Heart of Midlothian’s owner, has pledged to break the Old Firm’s grip on the Scottish Premiership, aiming to make Hearts a title contender. Speaking recently, Bloom criticized the 15-year dominance of one club, except for Rangers’ 2021 win, and vowed, “It’s not going to be a one or two club show from now on,” as reported by BBC Sport.
Initially, Hearts targeted a third-place finish, but Bloom now sees this as the minimum goal, drawing parallels to his success with Union Saint-Gilloise, which won the Belgian title in 2024 after 90 years. “Every game Hearts play, we aim to win,” he said, emphasizing ambition across all competitions, including the Champions League.
Under sporting director Graeme Jones and manager Derek McInnes, Hearts’ squad is strengthening yearly. Bloom’s vision stems from his lifelong connection to the club, recalling their near-title win in 1986, when a late loss to Dundee dashed hopes. His goal is to restore Hearts’ competitive edge.
