The officers targeted drug areas from Mamfe and Tutu in the Eastern Region to places like Madina Redco Flats, Zongo Junction, and the slums near Airport City.

On Boxing Day, NACOC also raided areas in Tema Community 1 and Teshie Nungua. Many people were arrested, and various drugs were taken away with the help of NACOC’s trained dogs. They also made sure to patrol shopping malls and beaches in the capital.

NACOC wants everyone to understand that beyond making arrests, this action is about helping people. They believe that the drugs taken, which include ecstasy, methamphetamine, and cannabis in alcohol, mean “thousands of lives saved from addiction” this December.

Whether on the beaches, in public places, or in the slums, NACOC is dedicated to making sure the holiday season is joyful, not tragic.

During the raids, 72 suspects were arrested. The officers engaged with local community members who were happy to see drug dealers removed from their neighborhoods. They also provided important information to residents about the dangers of drug abuse and how it affects safety in their neighborhoods. NACOC plans to continue these raids in the coming days and months to keep everyone in Ghana safe.

This follows the filing of 78 charges against Ofori-Atta and seven others regarding their alleged involvement in the controversial agreements between the GRA and SML.

In a statement posted on its official Facebook page on Thursday, November 20, the OSP announced that it would also seek court orders to serve charge sheets to accused individuals who are currently outside of Ghana.

According to the OSP, the charges filed on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, pertain to violations of Section 23(1) of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29), and Section 92(2)(b) of the Public Procurement Act, 2003 (Act 663).

A portion of the suit, filed at the Criminal Division of the High Court in Accra under case number CR/0106/2026, states:

“Conspiracy to commit the criminal offense of directly or indirectly influencing the procurement process to obtain an unfair advantage in the award of a procurement contract, contrary to Section 23(1) of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29), and Section 92(2)(b) of the Public Procurement Act, 2003 (Act 663).”

Those expected to face prosecution include former GRA Commissioners-General Dr. Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah and Emmanuel Kofi Nti. Manuel Kofi Nti; senior GRA officials Isaac Crentsil and Kwadwo Damoa; Ernest Akore, former Technical Advisor at the Ministry of Finance; Evans Adusei, owner of SML; and the company itself.

According to the statement, the screening will be held across eight sub-centres in five key locations, with strict crowd-control measures to ensure a safe and orderly process.

“All qualified applicants, in batches of 600 persons, will receive SMS notifications with their reporting dates, batch numbers, and designated centres,” the statement said.

Designated screening centres include:

• El-Wak Stadium – 2 centres

• Nicholson Park, Burma Camp – 2 centres

• Air Force Base, Burma Camp

• Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), Teshie – 2 centres

• Eastern Naval Command, Tema

Applicants are advised to follow instructions in their SMS messages and check the recruitment portal frequently for updates. Those who do not receive a message by November 20 are encouraged to contact the official helpline or WhatsApp support for assistance.

To prevent overcrowding, GAF cautioned that family and friends are not allowed at the centres, stressing that non-applicants will not be permitted entry.

The recruitment exercise was earlier suspended after a tragic stampede that resulted in casualties. A Board of Inquiry is currently probing the incident.

For transparency, GAF has restructured the Greater Accra recruitment leadership, appointing:

• Commodore F.A. Nyarko – Human Resources

• Colonel F. Kusi-Darko – Manpower

• Colonel G.B. Eduah – Information Technology

Captain Arhin noted that anyone found culpable will face sanctions.

She further expressed the Armed Forces’ condolences to affected families and assured that injured applicants will continue to receive free medical care at the 37 Military Hospital until fully recovered.

GAF also announced a special recruitment package for the injured and their families as part of ongoing support.
