Arsenal Still Active in Transfer Market, Says Mikel Arteta

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that the Gunners are “actively looking at options” in the transfer market and could sign more players before the window closes.

The North London club have already had a busy summer, spending around £190 million to bring in Viktor Gyokeres, Noni Madueke, Martin Zubimendi, Christian Norgaard, Cristhian Mosquera, and goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Arteta Open to New Arrivals and Departures

Speaking after Arsenal’s final pre-season friendly, Arteta said:

“Let’s see what happens, in terms of where the squad is in the next few weeks. But we are actively looking at options. As well, there are a few players that, maybe, they have to leave as well. So, we will be open to see what happens.”

Pre-Season Ends on a High

Arsenal wrapped up their pre-season with a 3-0 win over Athletic Bilbao, with new £64m signing Gyokeres opening the scoring. Bukayo Saka and Kai Havertz also found the net.

Arteta praised his squad’s display, saying:

“I am very happy with what I see. I think, individually, there were some big performances against a Champions League opponent. That first goal is always very important and the way Gyokeres took it was really, really good.”

Gyokeres Bringing a New Dimension

Arsenal have been playing a more direct style during pre-season, a tactical shift designed to suit Gyokeres’ strengths.

“That’s his nature,” Arteta said. “His movement, the way he times his runs, the way he predicts the next move… that’s the instinct that he has. He pins both centre-backs and, when you leave him one-on-one, he’s going to destroy you.”

The Arsenal boss believes the Swedish striker will create more space for teammates and consistently be a goal threat.

Summary:
With the season fast approaching, Arsenal transfer news remains busy, with Arteta hinting at both potential signings and departures. Fans will be watching closely as the Gunners aim to strengthen their squad ahead of the Premier League campaign.
