The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, has once again been remanded by the Accra Circuit Court.
Despite strong arguments from his legal team during proceedings on Friday, September 12, 2025, the court denied Abronye bail. He has been charged with offensive conduct, a criminal offense under Ghana’s laws.
According to GhanaWeb’s reporter, George Ayisi, the court ordered that Abronye be held in custody for one week, with the case adjourned to Friday, September 19, 2025.
Police Deployment and Court Tension
Police reinforcements were dispatched to the court premises to maintain order after large numbers of NPP supporters trooped in, demanding Abronye’s immediate release.
The Offense
Abronye’s troubles began when the Ghana Police Service announced on September 8, 2025, that he had been arrested for “offensive conduct conducive to the breach of peace.”
In a statement posted on its official social media pages, the Police said:
“The Ghana Police Service has today, 08/09/25, arrested Mr. Kwame Baffoe, also known as Abronye, for offensive conduct conducive to the breach of peace. He is currently in custody and will be put before court.”
Political Asylum Attempt
The case has taken another twist following Abronye’s controversial attempts to seek political asylum in eight countries, including Côte d’Ivoire and the United States.
He cited political persecution, threats to his life, and alleged abuse of state security powers by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government as the reasons behind his asylum request.
This asylum application, according to legal analysts, may have influenced the court’s decision to deny him bail.
