A major fire outbreak has been reported behind Ferro Fabrik Ltd in the Tema Heavy Industrial Area, causing extensive damage to multiple wooden structures in the early hours of Thursday, June 19.
The blaze, which erupted at dawn, triggered an urgent response from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), which swiftly deployed seven fire tenders to the scene. Firefighters, supported by senior GNFS personnel including the Regional Commander, Operations Officer, and various District Commanders, are working tirelessly to contain the inferno.

The intensity of the fire and the combustible nature of the wooden structures have made the operation particularly challenging. Authorities are racing against time to prevent the flames from spreading to nearby industrial facilities, warehouses, and other vulnerable areas.
While the cause of the fire remains unclear, investigations are expected to be launched once the fire is brought under control. For now, no casualties have been reported, and emergency services continue their efforts to douse the flames and secure the area.
This incident underscores the importance of fire safety and preparedness, especially in industrial zones where flammable materials are often stored. It also raises concerns about the structural safety of informal settlements and temporary wooden structures in such high-risk environments.
Further updates are expected as officials assess the full extent of the damage.
